Color Blocks

"And sniffed me out like I was Tanqueray"

2021

After listening to Jeff Koons in his Masterclass, I wanted to understand colors better.

In his Masterclass, Jeff Koons explained that he uses around 7000 colors in a single painting, all categorized and cataloged. To give you my point of reference, so far I had only used 15 colors, across all my paintings.

At first, I thought categorizing 7000 colors was impossible, or at least a bit over the top, but actually the human eye can differentiate between 1 million colors, so 7000 is not so crazy.

The only way to understand colors and their impact is to work with them. So I did. I made a series of 16 paintings with 225 color blocks each, getting to a total of 3600 color blocks.
